It was a pleasure working with Joe this past Sunday. His professionalism and skill were a treat to watch. I was his “gofer” for the day and I learned a lot just observing him and clearing out the debris. We were clearing and felling trees that potentially endangered our home. As the attached video shows, Joe carefully and successfully cleared branches, cutting them in pieces to avoid any contact with the house. I recently hired Joe Candido to cut down some problem trees around my pool area. There were 11 trees or so. There were some problem trees we didn’t feel comfortable cutting down ourselves due to their size, location, and the way they were leaning. I got Joe’s contact through my sister and her boyfriend, who had a rather big tree cut down by him before. They had a great experience so I had a good feeling going into it. Joe came out and inspected the trees and the overall area. The pool area was empty as we will be putting up a new pool, however the deck was still there and we wanted that to stay in tact. Joe took his time in thinking about what trees would come down where and when. He explained what he would do to the trees that caused the most worry. There was one tree which would have hit the house if he felled it whole, so he explained he would cut the top off then drop it. There were some that were leaning in the wrong direction which he corrected by tying them together and pulling them in the direction he needed them to go. There was also one bigger one in the back of the area with limbs close to a power line leaning the wrong way. He explained he would limb it to take some weight off to get it to go in the right direction. My budget and schedule were a little tight but Joe was willing to work with me on an agreement that would work for both of us. He took a video of the trees with his own voice over explaining the work that needed to be done. I asked for two quotes, one for all 11 trees and one for a smaller cluster of trees to see which would fit better into my budget. He told me he’d have them back in two to three days. He was very prompt and got them to me in that amount of time. The quotes were clear in what I needed to know. The price for the 11 trees was not much more expensive and it felt more cost efficient so that is what we chose. The quote was for just cutting the trees down as we had decided to do the clean up ourselves. Joe quoted that he would start on Thursday, May 26th, 2022 and would end on Monday, May 30th, 2022. To my pleasant surprise, he managed to get all trees down on the first day! There are many factors that can come into cutting down that many trees, but thankfully none of the bad ones seemed to interfere other than the wind. The wind was blowing against him in the direction he needed the trees to fall. But he was able to counter that safely. Joe is very conscious of safety and as he says, there is only one shot to get it right because once the tree comes down you cannot change where it is going to land. Joe’s communication was great. He checked in with me about a smaller group of trees to verify which ones I wanted cut. He explained what he was doing to which tree. And even though clean up was not part of the quote, he did some organization of the fallen trees and neatly piled the limbs so that is was more manageable for us. Needed the work done as soon as possible due to one of the trunks leaning towards the house. this trick was both rotted and cracked and was concerned for a large wind gust would bring it down on top of our house. Despite being fully booked Joe put us first and performed the work on easter holiday weekend. Fully appreciate the work he did and would recommend to others without hesitation.

I recently had the pleasure of hiring Joe Candido of Avalon Tree Service to remove a 100 + foot tree on my property. It had needed to come down for quite some time and a recent wind burst had caused a large branch to come crashing down in my yard in the middle of the night. I received multiple quotes and they came in a wide variety of pricing and the methods that would be used to take down the tree. One thing that struck me about Joe was that he called me right back after I left him a voicemail and set a time to come look at the tree. Upon arrival he looked at the tree and took videos and pictures of it and said he would be back in touch soon to review the method he would use to take it down and what my cost would be. A few days later Joe called me back and we set a time to meet. Joe was very detailed on how he would tackle the job, when he could do it and how much it would cost. I was so impressed on how detailed he was and that his method (climbing the tree and cutting it down) would have the least amount of damage to my property. All the other companies I spoke with said they needed to get a bucket truck or a crane to do the job and that I should plan on having some serious damage to my lawn and the stone wall surrounding it. I decided to go with Avalon and I was not disappointed. Joe came early on a Saturday morning with his impressive array of chainsaws (small, medium and gigantic) and climbing tools. It took the entire day and piece by piece the tree came down until it was just a stump. I am very happy with the job that was done and the fact that everything was cleaned up and there was no damage to my lawn or my wall. I found Joe very knowledgeable and friendly and most of all responsive to my questions and concerns. In my opinion its very rare to find any contractor that returns your calls and does what they say they are going to do at the agreed upon price and that is why I would not hesitate to recommended Joe and Avalon Tree Service.

Joe went above and beyond. He swept up and raked soil back into the hole from which he had removed the tree. He worked quickly, doing the job himself. I was very pleased with his overall completion of the task.

Joe quickly responded to my request for a quote by assessing the tree and getting back to me within hours. The tree was a massive, dead maple with enormous branches precariously hovering over the house eaves and electrical wires. Hired Joe for a large pine that was very close to the house. He came out within a few days to quote. Crane and/or bucket trucks offered full removal of debris, but all mentioned some lawn damage. Joe actually explained exactly what he was going to do with the tree; meaning what limbs would come down and why before felling the main. Most others who quoted simply wouldn’t give specific details. I also felt more comfortable with someone who had a solid plan for a tree that could do significant damage to a house if something went wrong. With Joe I removed the debris, but he bucked the trunk and piled a good portion of the branches. Job was done in the time anticipated. I plan to contact Joe for future tree removal; which is a given in time. If you have a problematic tree that needs care with how it’s taken down, I certainly recommend Avalon Sunset Tree Service.
